We handpick and evaluate each every sub-contractor we hire, and then follow up regularly on-site. Tripp also meets with the project foremen regularly. These meetings ensure the job is executed with the attention to detail and expert craftsmanship that your project deserves.
Custom Residential and Commercial Contracting
Residential projects include new homes, renovations, and restorations. The possibilities for each of these are endless. Consider building a new deck, replacing the interior staircase, adding exterior trim, or completely redoing the kitchen. Woodland Contracting hires sub-contractors who deliver stunning results on time. We can also craft the windows, flooring, fixtures, countertops, cabinetry, and railings you want.
On the commercial side, we frequently help businesses expand or relocate along the South Shore. As a general contractor, we can perform small fit-ups and light commercial projects as well as large-scale renovations and new construction.
Tripp's Story (in his own words)
From an early age I enjoyed building things - model planes, tree forts, … things that would engage my mind and hands for hours on end. In high school I worked as a carpenter’s assistant. Those same skills helped pay my way through college.
I went to business school with the idea of somehow pursuing a career in the corporate world. After college, I spent a few years behind a desk for a financial management firm, then a few more in a software company. The tech bubble burst around that time and that’s when it became clear to me that I wasn’t cut out for a 9-5 office routine.
That’s also when I started thinking about creating my own business in an area where I could pursue excellence in true craftsmanship.
I decided to go back to the construction industry to gain more experience. I worked for four years with a custom-home builder learning the craft. I then became a project manager for a commercial contractor where I developed the discipline and organization skills to run large jobs.
At that point, I finally felt ready to bring it all together – my business degree, my project management experience and my passion as a craftsman. I started Woodland Contracting in 2010 and haven’t looked back since. We’ve done a number of great projects in that short time and are continuing to add to our portfolio.
I like the creativity that goes into assembling and executing a construction plan and the gratification of seeing the project take shape. I enjoy the numbers side of managing the job, the challenges of having a small business and the freedom a being my own boss. I like the idea that I’m more in control of my own destiny.
I value exceptional workmanship. I’m grateful for the projects people entrust us with and I feel committed to do the work we say we’ll do. I make an effort to stay in good communication with my clients and to keep them regularly informed about the status of their project. I respect and treat people’s home like I would want someone else to treat mine. I strive to only use subcontractors who share these values.
One day in the future I hope that we can build something special for you.
